No, there is not members blog yet. We were busy wrapping up the July contest and launching Refer a Friend. The members blog (or discussion board) is next in the pipeline. If you have any suggestions regarding the blog/board - post them here

Allowing a link to a coupon from the deal description is also in our "to do" list. Things go slowly this month - Mike and I each take a week long break in August which puts some things on hold. Got to spend some time with families - can't give it all to you guys! :)

Would it be possible to show who is flagging deals? Many times the flag is inaccurate and it does affect the image or worthiness of a deal. Maybe someone would think twice about flagging & negatively affecting someone else's deal if they knew we could see who it was.

When you submit a deal, you can specify image URL that will be used for the deal image. Currently supported formats are JPG, PNG, and GIF. Is this what you are asking?

I hope you all noticed the new way to filter deals on the main page. Select 'Sort by Activity' from the right side bar and you will notice that deals that are being commented or flagged will be pushed up in the list. We hope this will help you stay on top of the community discussion around the recently posted deals, and also to quicker respond to the flags

That's pretty noble of you TheBest! This contest is not really a contest anyway. The winner is being determined by how many friends they have to vote up on their deals as fast as they can get them posted.

I know my deals have been rated tops on other sites but on here they die because of the competition for financial gain. People refuse to vote on the leaders deals even if they are great deals so they can advance their own standing.

Personally, I'd like to know who simplechallenges is. They have not posted a deal and only vote on one persons deals almost immediately after they post them. That person would be orangearrows.

      Hi coree511
I'm simplechallenges, I imagine when you say "Personally, I'd like to know who simplechallenges is" you want to know what my connection to orangearrows is and not really I really am, because that would probably be out of the scope of this forum.

My question though is, does it really matter. I could be a friend, family, neighbor, hell I could just like the handle orangearrows. But as long as I vote for the deals and I'm not orangearrows I think I'm ok.

Now I understand that I may not be following the essence of the rule to truly vote only for the deals without any prejudice or bias.

But show me one person who has been doing this for a while and does not have any prejudice or bias and I will show you a liar.

And ps. I did post a deal a while back, it seemed like too much work and not something I see myself doing day after day. I have too much fun at my real job to remember doing posting deals.

First, please don't swear, its inappropriate.

Second, thank you for at least admitting that your voting is biased and in preference of certain individuals.

Although, there are different levels of bias, and I think your confusing at least two of them. Not voting another posters deal up so that you don't sacrifice your own position in a daily contest would be one thing, but to purposefully support only a specific user is conspiracy.

I don't support people who are grouping users together to win the contests, and I think your not the only one who is doing this. However, even if there are others that does not make your action right, only equal in wrong to another.

Undoubtedly, should this continue, both you and OrangeArrows will find a great deal of your support vanishing. (Whether he or she is guilty or not.) Realize that 2-3 people voting together is not enough to win the contest.

You guys just proved my point. I did not admit to any bias, but you guys just did. And isnt conspiracy too strong a word for a deal website. Now, it would be a conspiracy if I was voting up orangearrows' deals and down yours. But if you like, you can ask the mods to track my IP or any other means and they will find that I have no connection to orangearrows. But what I'm going to do is vote everyone's deals but you cannot cry wolf on how I vote.

      Simple,

Anyone with decent knowledge regarding computers knows how an IP address can be worked around. The most obvious of these is just using an alternate computer on an alternate network. Tracking an IP address is helpful, and better than nothing else, but cannot really be used as the sole basis for proving innocence.

Besides no one ever accused you of being OrangeArrows outright, only that at the very least you appear to be in league with him or her based of your voting style, which you yourself practically admitted too.

"Conspiracy" is not to strong of a word if it fits the scenario. Essentially the word is in reference to a secret or deceptive plot, and so far it seems to apply.

At this point the likely reason for you not voting other people's deals down is that you hoped no one would notice your voting. (Negative votes do seem to stick out a bit more.)

The fact is your arguments hold no ground, and all you can do to convince me, and probably at least two others, of your self proclaimed non-conspiratorial nature is to start voting differently. (This means for other people and the good deals they post, and I can't believe that your find every deal posted by OrangeArrows to be good, opinions on deals simply vary too much between people.)

There I'm done, no more, I've got sweet deals to go find.

I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one feeling this way. I felt like a whiner after I said anything, but it's obvious now that someone needed to speak out to voice what everyone was feeling.

As much as everyone says that the monthly contest is not important to them, I can't see just giving up & letting someone win this way. This is site is supposed to be about judging the worth of a deal to help others find a hot bargain. If we allow it to be so biased then it's not truly sorting out the best deals.

I'd like to thank Yan & Mike for trying so hard and caring about the fairness of the contest. I'm sure it's tough to be in their position and support whatever solution they decide upon. It will all work itself out as Buxr continues to grow.

No one wants to be the first one to say something for fear of not having any support, and then being left alone and looking bad. With that in mind, let me applaud you for having the courage to stand up and speak.

We all need to keep out eyes out for strange voting trends like these, I think there are 1-2 more out there. I'm unwilling to point fingers elsewhere just yet, but if people look closer they become borderline obvious. However, I hope this occurrence and discussion will encourage others to reform

Just a heads up to everyone. We rolled back votes and banned several accounts today. Our community is too small to ignore attempts to game the contests and so the measures may seem too harsh to someone. Speak up if you think we overstepped our responsibilities. Our goals are and will always be to keep the contests fair and the true hot deal submitters rewarded.

Also a note to simplechallenges. Friends are fine and we encourage everyone to bring more friends to the site, but we cannot afford friends who throw the contests out of balance by voting solely based on deal ownership. Your voting rights are temporarily revoked until the end of this month.

      I don't get it .

First of all ....@Coree....this is the 2nd time you are just throwing my name up there for no reason . You done it before you doing it again .

You talk about financial gain , well if are not interested in financial gain , why are you still in the race .Do the noble thing like TheBest ....

would you ? No you would not ?

About good deals not being getting the attention they deserve , well I also post good deals , my deals are also a hit on other site but here they don't get a single vote . Today I got a negative vote from Soltice for a deal . Why because their was a price drop today ( and I was the one who posted the lower priced deal too )

About the votes I am getting from a single user , Well I was getting the votes and I was happy about it .I don't really know about the the person though . @Admins , how about everyone else who is getting their votes from their friends . How about rolling their votes too .

I have seen biased voting before , but I cannot help it , Never said anything ......

About anyone who says they are not interested in financial gain ....well why don't you all have your votes out of the contest .Just post them ...and don't include them in the contest .Do it . No one will .

I have seen deals getting instant votes as soon as the deals are posted , even if they are crappy deals ..they get votes . What about those Admin ?

I don;t like getting into a war of words , but this is total BS .

Voting positive is not always enough, if it were RedsoxRokk would be in the lead with a whopping 543 positive votes cast. He or she has everyone beat on that account.

I could easily increase my number of positive votes by simply voting on not-so-hot deals at the end of the day. All am saying is its not the only indicator one can use to gauge the actions of their fellow members. It is just one of many.

Don't be silly, I've seen you post some great deals and I've voted for them, but like everyone else sometimes you post deals that are not so hot as others out there. I've occasionally posted deals that I though were sure winners, and seen them not get a single vote, while others I've posted that even I thought were mediocre have won deal of the day.

You can't win every day, nobody can, as there are just too many deals being posted.

    1) Count the votes of only active members, who are posting the deals regularly and New members can start voting only after posting some number of deals. This can help to reduce fake voting.

    2) Don't give the result only basis of votes, sometimes(not always ;-) ) give the prize to those whatever the deals you like or which are the really good but not enough votes. So everyone gives the vote to good deal to earn one point as you can pick any good deal at end of the day.

    3) Don't fix the time to declare the result. It will help to reduce manipulation of end time voting.

Perhaps requiring every user to post a deal at least once every two weeks to retain their voting rights might help, and that once they post again they get those rights back instantly.

Making the end time purely random would be helpful, with perhaps the only warning being that it will occur between 11:00pm-1:00am or the like. However, please let us know what time zone your working off of if you do. I need some kind of warning so that I can make sure I'm hope in time to participate in the evening, as I work morning into mid-late evening.

As for the suggestion #2 by The Best, I want to comment on that idea to, but I have to go to work. I'll pipe in later.

I like #3 and if you noticed we already started to experiment with this strategy (check the Daily Contest results for August 21)

I agree with TheBest's number 2 point. I think some subjective opinion can take some of the place of the quantitative votes. Perhaps there is a way to form a panel by the admins and some members rotating basis that will have some input into the best deals.

I would like to suggest a possible better idea that might be helpful but not quite as subjective, as I don't want to see peoples' voting outright overridden if many people like a deal.

Perhaps each of our three enlightened judges should each carry 1-3 votes they can cast per day. This would allow them to have an influence but not always enough to override the members who have voted. I personally have no problem trusting their judgment with a few votes, but just allowing them to choose the deals without regard for the number of votes sometimes I would find troubling and may come to frustrate some members.

I personally and most definitely do not like the idea of a panel composed of members. I would rather keep the judges entirely independent from the community members/posters.

What if 2 of the picks were ours and 2 picks were made by the community? Would you guys trust Yan and I? :) It would put a lot of pressure on us because when there a 100 deals submitted it's hard to pick the 2 best..

I don't know, as I'm more keen on just letting you guys have a few votes of your own, or perhaps just seeing how things play out for the rest of the month first before deciding to change anything. However, if nothing else I guess I'm okay with giving the idea of a 2-2 split a try and seeing how it works out for granting deals of the day.
